Why is my account pending?
New accounts are pending until they have been reviewed.
To help maintain the quality and trustworthiness of our directory, your account must be verified before your listing is added. Most reviews are completed within 5 business days after receiving your verification information.
For verification, we require:
- Valid email address
- Valid phone number
- At least one of the following:
Business website - A professional business website that clearly identifies your company, your services, and contact information. To prove ownership, we will need you to add a random string provided by us to a page on your website.
Facebook page - An active Facebook page that shows at least three months of visible business activity, including posts, updates, customer engagement, or other evidence of ongoing operations. If you do not have this, we will need a snapshot of the Transparency screen.
Google Business Profile - An active Google Business Profile helps confirm that your business is legitimate, publicly listed, and serving customers in its stated service area.
Texas DBA or LLC Registration - Businesses registered with the State of Texas as a DBA (Doing Business As) or LLC may be verified using publicly available registration records.
Proof of Business Insurance - Proof of current business insurance to help verify your active operating status.
In some cases, we may need additional information to verify your listing. If so, we’ll reach out using the email address you provided at registration. Responding promptly can help avoid delays in the approval process.
What to do while your account is pending
- Complete your profile. Adding a detailed description of your products, services or skills makes it easier for visitors to find the information they need. After signing up, you can log in to your account and add a logo or profile pic which will display in your directory listing along with a detailed business description, additional photos, videos, and social media links. This information assures visitors that you are a reputable and skilled professional.
- Preview your directory listing. Although your listing will not be visible or searchable on our main directory while your account is pending, you will have access to preview your listing. This gives you a chance to see how it will appear in the directory once your account has been approved. To view your listing as it will appear in the directory, log in to your account and click the Preview Listing link under the Listing tab.
- Mark our emails as safe. Add our email address to your contacts or safe sender list to help ensure future emails are delivered to your inbox. After signing up, you will receive a welcome email with the subject line, Thank You for Joining the Houston Area Directory. If you do not see this email in your inbox, please check your spam, junk, promotions, or other folders. Once you locate the email, mark it as Not Spam (if it was in your spam folder) and add the sender to your contacts or safe sender list. This helps ensure you receive important emails from us, including your listing approval notification and account updates.
